How to Clean a Microwave Turntable Glass Plate

how to clean a microwave turntableWhen you know how to clean a microwave turntable plate you may be surprised to find it’s the easiest part to maintain. Getting exploding or hard, dried food off the interior microwave walls and door take a little more scrubbing — not to mention having to lean over a stove or stoop to look inside a countertop model.

At least with the turntable plate, it’s easily removed. Stubborn stains can then be soaked and you have better access to the edge lip and underneath the plate where it attaches to the turntable motor.

A microwave turntable is best washed in warm sudsy water, allowing a little time to soak for any stubborn stuck on spills or splatters. Many microwave turntables can go in the dishwasher, however, you should check the Owner’s Manual for your manufacturer so see if your brand is dishwasher safe.

One thing to avoid is putting a hot microwave plate in hot water after cooking. The microwave turntable should be allowed to cool before cleaning. Exposing a hot glass plate to water can cause thermal cracking and break your microwave turntable.
